a. Are you still in a FEMA
trailer? (Of course if they say "No" you won't have to ask that again.)
Volunteer Note: As
of May 2007 there were still over 7000 FEMA trailers in use in Hancock county.
b. What is the progress on
their home? Do they have the materials to complete the work?
Volunteer Note: There are so many people struggling with the rebuilding of
their homes. It creates huge amounts of stress.
They lack the money to buy the materials and help to do the re-building.
c. Do they need any volunteer
assistance? If so, what type?
Volunteer Note: Pathfinder provides
assistance on the primary residential structure. If you are not certain
we would help them, tell them you will ask Charley and Martie to call them back.
Cautionary Note.
Please do not offer to give them money or commit
to sending volunteers. Tell them that someone
from the Pathfinder Staff will contact them about
their needs. After the call you can send us an
e-mail or call us to let us know about the need.
d. Are they attending a church?
If so, which church?
Volunteer Note:
We are not trying to "steal sheep" from other churches.
If they attend a church that is what we want to encourage.
We
hold a worship service at 7:00pm every Saturday night at the camp.
e. Always end your
conversation with a prayer. You can say something
like this ....
"(First
Name), I would like to pray for you and your family
before I go. Is there anything specifically that I
can be praying about. You know, I pray for you
every day."
