Many of our friends have asked that
we keep them posted on the progress on our home in
Waveland. We figured the best way to do that was to
chronicle the progress on a web page. What you
will see below is a day by day progression of the house,
from what you see above left to what you will see when
we are done.
Martie and I struggled with the
decision to move into a house because we did not want to
be distracted from the ministry to the people here.
Many of you have been a great encouragement to us and a
great influence in our decision to move ahead.
Not only is this house helping
us get out of our trailer, we are walking the same path
that so many other people on the Gulf Coast are walking.
In fact this may be the primary reason the Lord has
given us this house. Making decisions about materials,
construction issues, permits, dealing with the
uncertainty of labor is very challenging. Imagine
how difficult it must be for the elderly, widows or
single moms. 2 Corinthians 1 says that God is the
God of all comfort, who comforts us in our affliction so
we can comfort others. Our desire is that this
house will enhance our ministry to the people.

I found this bulb last Christmas. It was lying in a ditch in the midst of
other debris. I don't know why it survived but I picked it up and put
it in my truck box. Yesterday when our mom encouraged us to put some
kind of tree up, we found a holly bush and cut a branch off. It was
cold and raining so we both got soaked. Martie added a garland and I
remembered that little red Christmas bulb. Notice the water line on
it. We plan to keep this bulb as a reminder of God's power, loving
kindness and grace. Next year it will hang in our little Katrina
Cottage.

We are asking those who help us with our home to write
a favorite verse on the wood framing.
Deuteronomy 11:18-21
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on
your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19
Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and
when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
20Write them on the doorframes of your
houses and on your gates, 21 so that
your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the
LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens
are above the earth.
