Greetings.
Yet another week has passed and God continues to show himself strong through this ministry. Volunteer teams have been ministering to the people in this area, both physically and spiritually. We are continuing to receive new work requests each day and are making good progress with the ones we have already received. The group from Indiana, with some timely assistance from four carpenters from Cleveland TN, built two additional bunk houses in three days. The total cost was paid by the team from Indiana. That means that we can sleep a little over 40 volunteers in heated buildings now. PTL. Bob, the team leader from Indiana discussed the possibility of purchasing two additional bunk houses for the camp Tuesday night. After pricing the buildings the next day we decided to build them instead. While discussing the layout, Pastor Ed received a call from 4 carpenters from Cleveland, TN who were in the area wanting to help a church. That afternoon, they built the skids and floors and by Saturday morning .. Presto .. We have completed bunk houses. God is Awesome! (I'll post some pictures to the web this weekend) Another group from Thorsby, AL visited folks in their "FEMA" trailers, giving them a tin of cookies and fudge as well as a listening ear and prayer of encouragement. They visited 40 homes yesterday and expect to visit at least 30 more tomorrow. During a devotion this week, Arla, from Demotte Indiana shared from Isa 58. It so impressed me I thought I would share it with you.
6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, 10 If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. 11 The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. 12 Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. ******************* Doesn't that sound like the work we all have been called to here in the Gulf? A ministry of restoration… restorers of streets to dwell in. God has called us to "fast" from a number of things to do the work He has called us to. The restoration is not just physical, but spiritual. And our light -- powered by His Spirit -- will break like the morning. Wow! How blessed we are to be able to participate in this great work. It is just a matter of walking in the truth that has been revealed to us. Please pray with Martie and me that others will walk in obedience to that Truth by faith as well. And that God will bring a great awakening to this region. This is a short update this week. Continue to pray for us, that God will continue to expand our borders and fill us with His Spirit to enable us for the work He has called us to. That He will continue to provide for our needs both for the camp and personally. With great affection for all of you
