Greetings from  Waveland, MS

I'm Alive!

I am sure you all are happy to know that I survived Disney World and Sea World.  Our grand daughter had a wonderful time and I was reminded why I was the oldest man standing in line waiting to have my innards turned upside down. Once again confirming that the laws of motion are still in effect.  Martie couldn't go with us because of her back surgeries, but we did get her on the flume rides ... to cool her off ... of course each time we got into the "wrong" end of the ride and were soaked when we got off.  Of course we all "hated it".  It was a wonderful, if not brief, respite from the work here and we were able to meet with our good friends in Orlando.  The Lord has blessed us this past four years with so many friendships.

Rebuilding

We continue with the rebuilding.  We are working on seven homes right now and residents continue to call us for help.  If you check our volunteer calendar out on our web site ... you will see that we don't have a lot of commitments for the summer ... http://www.pathfindermission.org/Calendar/VolunteerCalendar.htm   Please join with us in prayer that the Lord will send laborers so we can finish what we have committed to.  If your church is planning a trip, please email Martie to let her know at ... pathfindermsn@bellsouth.net

Wells.  One family that we are helping found themselves in a very difficult situation.  The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is pressing them to get out of their MEMA cottage.  Both the wife and husband work.  They have been using his salary to purchase materials for their home.  He was admitted to the hospital and could not work ( he is an oyster fisherman).  I contacted some of the churches that volunteer with us and they provided the money to buy the materials needed to finish the house.  PTL!  West End Baptist Church is coming here the weekend of June 12th with the goal of completing all of the work remaining.

Tague.  Joe Tague's house is finished and he and his wife have moved in.  We went to their house last week to bless it and give the Tagues a house warming gift - a cross made from Redwood by a volunteer who lives in California, pot holders made by a volunteer who lives in Indiana, and a large print Bible donated by a church in Kentucky.  BTW, Joe went to church Sunday at Old Spanish Trail BC where I was preaching.

Lafontaine.  Thanks to the hard work of volunteers from California and Pennsylvania, the LaFontaine house is 99% complete.  They are waiting on counter tops and we have a few items on the punch list to resolve and Ms. Lafontaine will be able to move in.

Davis.  Lesli Davis has her cabinets, interior doors and trim  and we trust that some of the volunteers coming at the end of the month will have the skills to install them.  God has been faithful to provide who we need when we need them.  He is always just in time, isn't He?

Hurricane Season

It's hurricane season once again so we have to start thinking about preparation ... last year, if you recall, we had to evacuate only once and had no damage at the camp.  We also asked some of you to call people we have helped about their evacuation plans.  I would like to do that this summer before the peak period which is the end of August through the first part of November.  If you would like to help us contact folks down here, please send an e-mail back to me so I can include you in our planning.
Simply reply to this update with the words ----  I'll Help --- in the body.  All that is involved is for you to make some phone calls, ask some questions (which we will give you), provide some information (which we will give you) and then e-mail us to let us know how it went.

The Elgin's

On our return from Orlando, we stopped in Montgomery and attended the 25th anniversary of our home church, Gateway.  The people there are like family and it was wonderful to see them  ...

We were successful in taking Jess, our grand daughter, through 6th grade home schooling.  We had to shake the cob webs loose, more than a time or two.  It looks like she will be with us for another year.  A number of you have helped us with materials and advice.  Thank You!

I am determined to keep this short.  So I will stop typing for now.  Please continue to pray for the work here.  God is faithful and we are thankful ... we always giving Him the praise and glory for what is accomplished through Pathfinder Mission.

Blessings
